Subject:   Hooking the KAM to a Yaesu FT-530

If you have a KAM+ TNC and the Yaesu FT-530 hooked up for packett AND
you are having intermittant connect failures - read on...
I've had both of these units for about six months and have had only about
a 50% connect success ratio getting into my local BBS.  I noticed that the
red XMIT light on the KAM+ was lighting up, but not the busy/tx red light on
the FT-530 HT.  I re-checked my cable connections several times but still
had this problem.  A call to Kantronics (Don Rixon) got me going again.
This guy knows his stuff.  He had me change R5 from a 4.7K resistor to a 2.2K
value, and ----> IT WORKS!  After the change I get connected 100% of the
time on the first attempt. Apparently the lower resistance allows the KAM+
to key the HT's PTT much easier.
