Bulletin: SA3560 Vendor: Yaesu / FT-530 Subject: Extended Transmit and Receive Mod This modification for the Yaesu FT-530 provides extended receive coverage from 110-180 MHZ and 300-500 MHZ and expanded transmit coverage from 130-180 MHZ and 400-470 MHZ. Also, the 800 MHZ band can be received. I have implemented this mod and it works as described. Yovan Lukic, KB7TBJ These are the mod instructions: 1. Remove antenna and battery 2. Remove four screws on bottom holding battery track. 3. Remove the four (black) screws holding rear case. 4. Slowly....open the front cover from transceiver and lay both halves on table. 5. Note positioning of white paper insulator in right half of radio and lift out (do not throw away). 6. Carefully locate jumper pad 13 and remove solder. The jumper pad is located on the lower right of the transceiver. There are 16 pads in all arranged in two columns. The column to the left is the even numbered column (i.e., pads 2 through 16). The column to the right is the odd numbered column (i.e., pads 1 through 15). Pad number 13 is the second pad from the bottom (counting the bottom- most pad as the first); or the seventh pad from the top (counting the top-most pad as the first). 7. Re-install white paper insulator, make sure the ground tab slides through the paper insulator. 8. Close radio back up (careful not to pinch the ribbon cable near lithium battery when closing case halves). 9. Re-install the four (black) screws holding rear case. 10. Re-install four (small silver) screws on bottom holding battery track to radio body. 11. Attach antenna and battery. 12. Turn off radio ..... Press and hold both arrow keys while turning on radio. I can be reached at 508-478-2937 tnx for reading this message 73s Modification File for ALINCO DJ560 Extended UHF Coverage In order to increase the transmit coverage of the ALINCO DJ-560,it is necessary to remove chip capacitor C18,rated at 4 PicoFarads. This capacitor is located on the UHF VCO subboard inside a metal shield. It is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED to have a service manual to locate the capacitor. It is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that you be comfortable around SMT components before attemping this MOD. This MOD is difficult due to the fact that the HT must be disassembled, the RF board must be removed, the UHF VCO subboard must be unsoldered from the RF board, then the metal shield from the subboard must be unsoldered to gain access to the component Using specrum analyzer and dummy load, transmit range before MOD: 425.100 - 467.500 42.400 MHZ coverage Transmit range after MOD: 432.500 - 503.600 71.100 MHZ coverage! By adjusting L5,this 71.1 spread can be made to 'fit' the range of frequencies you desire, since the 71.1 spread stays constant with L5 manipulation. If desired, SASE will get you the portions of the service manual pertinent to this MODification.
