To all FT-470 users: I was shown at a local club meeting how to extend the FT-470's UHF receive range FROM THE KEYPAD! Having never seen this floating around the BBS's I thought I would share it... To extend Yaesu FT-470 UHF receive range from keypad: 1) Set to VFO A. 2) Turn off all "extras". (e.g. Offset, CTCSS, Battery save, etc.) 3) Enter 450.00 MHz 4) Press F then RPT. (RPT SET) 5) Enter four (4) zeros (0). (Display reads 0.00) 6) Turn radio off then on again. 7) Press RPT button until display shows a "+" offset. 8) Press REV. (Display will show 1450.00 MHz) 9) Press F then down arrow (Down MHz) until display reads 512.00 Mhz. DO NOT GO PAST 512.00 OR YOU WILL HAVE TO START OVER! 10) Program this into U memory (Upper Scan Limit). 11) To program Lower Limit, first repeat steps 1-6. 12) Press RPT button until display shows a "-" offset. 13) Press PTT (push-to-talk) until display reads 50.00 MHz (yes fifty!) 14) Press F then up arrow (MHz up) until display reads 400.00 MHz. AGAIN, DO NOT GO PAST 400.00 OR YOU WILL HAVE TO START OVER! 15) Program this into the L memory. (Lower Scan Limit) 16) To program memories you will have to use the "Memory Tune" function (MT). The FT-470 will now receive from 400-512 MHz.
