Here are before and after pictures of a recent Collins KWM-2A project combination refurbishing and restoration.   The project included reshaping the aluminum case and repainting the entire case and trim ring.  As you can see from the pictures the finished KWM-2A is ready for another 30 years of use.

Please Note:  The results of any refurbishing project will vary and mostly depends on the condition and extent of damage to the radio before the process begins.
